Covid Update

DSC 4630

Today is 12/14/20

It has been nearly a month since our first positive case and as of today we have only one staff positive case and no resident cases. In total, there have been 5 resident positives (3 resolved and 2 expired) and 3 staff, all resolved. We will test staff again tomorrow 12/15/20. If no positive cases arise, we will be considered out of outbreak status and able to rejoin Washington phased re-opening guidelines. We are hopeful that we will be able to resume the re-opening coinciding with vaccine distribution, which should arrive, at the earliest, next week. We will keep these updates going in the event of any new cases or new outbreaks. Thank you for you patience and trust in mitigating this challenge.

Updated 12/15/2020 9:30am: In our reporting of results, I made an error of addition. We had 3 total staff positive cases, not 4. The result of our residents is still 5 (3 resolved, 2 expired). All updates have been edited to reflect this change.

Today is 12/3/20,

Staff testing results from yesterday 12/2 were all negative. We have pending resident tests collected on Monday 11/30 and results should be available  1-2 days. If no additional staff or resident positives occur in this week and next week’s round(s) of testing, we will be out of “outbreak” status December 15th. If tests come back positive in these testing cycles, we will remain in “outbreak” status and notify of new “outbreak-free” date. To date, we’ve had 7 total positives: 5 residents and 2 staff. Of those cases 2 have recovered (staff) 3 are active (residents) and 2 have expired (residents with underlying conditions).

UPDATE ON COVID CASE(S) and RESIDENT/STAFF PCR TESTING

Woodland Care Center

Our staff have been tested and as of 11/21 we have 2 confirmed cases of covid. Today we had two positive resident antigen tests and are waiting results from the lab for all other residents. We will have all resident results back 11/22/20 and will update at that time.

We’ve set up a wing for COVID residents that is isolated from all other patients and receiving care being monitored closely by physicians, nurses, nursing aides for any changes in condition. All PPE and precautions are being strictly followed to prevent the spread in the building and staff, families, and residents have been notified.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please speak with our nursing staff (Jennifer, Stephanie, Paula) or call our administrator or admission coordinator (Justin, Tammy).

UPDATE ON COVID CASE(S) and RESIDENT/STAFF PCR TESTING

Woodland Care Center

It has been our responsibility to test all staff weekly depending on case positivity in the community and during our most recent testing cycle we’ve had 1 staff member whose results indicate positive Covid results. That staff member has had limited exposure to residents, but has been around staff that have given care. We’ve sent out additional testing and will be following up with testing of staff twice a week until no positives or symptoms are showing. There have been some inaccuracies measured in our new antigen testing machine (1st testing method), so we’ve followed up with additional lab testing to ensure accuracy of results. In the meantime we’ve treated these cases as positive and are following all recommendations for patient and staff safety.

Tomorrow we will follow up with resident PCR testing for all residents and will notify all family (of the results when we are given those. In the meantime we’ve enacted all protocols for outbreak status and we have PPE and supplies available to reduce/prevent exposure.

The second testing method we have used is called PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) testing and it is highly accurate.

As a precaution, all staff and residents with known exposure to this individual are quarantining safely in their homes and rooms.

We will continue testing twice weekly and report any new test results or other pertinent information regarding this outbreak

As always, if you have any questions or concerns feel free to call at 360-225-9443 and ask for the following staff:

Stephanie Smith – Infection Preventionist/Staff Development Coordinator

Jennifer Lennox- Director of Nursing

We know how stressful this is and we will continue to do our best to keep you informed of any new cases and making sure all social distancing and PPE use is strictly being followed.

Sincerely,

Updates on COVID Results

DSC 4630

Dear respected family and community members,

It is our responsibility, in the interest of your safety and resident safety, to inform you of a positive test result using our antigen machine. This machine has been known to produce false-positives, so we’ve followed up with additional PCR testing that will confirm or refute the findings.

Testing on 10/6/20 produced one staff positive result.

We are now in the process of testing all residents. Updates of the results will be posted.

For now, the person who’s tested positive and all exposed to that person have been notified and will quarantine accordingly.

We are working diligently to keep residents safe and will not give up in our fight to protect and keep everyone safe. All PPE usage and sanitation measures are being tracked and strictly adhered to.

Should you have any concerns or questions please contact:

Stephanie Smith – Infection Preventionist (360) 225-9443 ext 244

Jennifer Lennox –  Director of Nurses (360) 225-9443 ext 215

Justin Settlemier – Administrator (360) 225-9443 ext 224

Thank you for your patience as we combat this virus. Your concerns are ours as well, let’s work together to keep everyone safe.

Warmly,

UPDATE on COVID Case(s) and Resident/Staff PCR Testing

DSC 4630 1 e1473443652810

Since the report of positive staff test results, we have completed a second round of PCR testing. We’re happy to report that we’ve received all NEGATIVE test results on ALL RESIDENTS so far. We still have two resident test results pending.

The second testing method we have used is called PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) testing and it is highly accurate.

We have also received PCR test results back on all staff and there are no new cases of COVID to report. Additionally, of the first two staff that tested positive, one staff member tested negative and one tested positive.

This means that we have ONE known positive case and that staff member is quarantined at home.

As a precaution, all staff and residents with known exposure to this individual are quarantining safely in their homes and rooms.

We will continue testing weekly and report any new test results or other pertinent information regarding this outbreak
