    Assisted Living Coordinator

Hello, I am Dana Sarkinen, LPN. I am the Assisted Living Nurse at Woodland Assisted Living which is part of Woodland Care Center. I have worked here for 13.5 years. My job is to coordinate care for the residents here in our facility, help solve problems, get needed supplies for their care and assist residents with communicating with their providers.

In my personal life, I spend time with my family and my church. I have a husband, Scott. Our children and grandchildren visit frequently. In the summer we do family camping trips. We celebrate most holidays together with family oriented activities and have weekly “Family nights”. We have 2 daughters that live in Maryland with their families; we have enjoyed visiting them and touring the Historical sites in the area. I like to read mysteries and historical fiction, do crafts, and garden (vegetables and flowers).

My goal is to provide personalized care for the residents in our facility so that they feel safe and content in our environment.

“Be kind to everyone you meet. You don’t know the hard battle they may be
fighting.” “ The glass is always half full”

Julie is our Life Enrichment Coordinator at Woodland Assisted Living. She loves
helping those in their golden years and being a senior cheerleader!

Getting older can be a very big stressor in a person’s life. Her easy going
personality and positive attributes allow the residents to find comfort in their
environment. Her focus is enrichment. She hopes to enrich the lives of others so
in turn they will enrich the lives of their family and friends. She is more than a
Activity Director, more than a Social Worker and more than a Resident
    Coordinator. She wears many hats!

She has spent the majority of her career working in the nursing industry. Out of
high school she trained and worked as a CNA for the Frontier Skilled nursing
facility in Longview, WA. She also worked in activities, social services and
admissions at Northwest Continuum another long term/skilled facility in
    Longview, WA.

She was then given an opportunity to join the Frontier again but this time as an
Activity Manager. Years later she was promoted to Social Worker of the Kaiser
and long term wings. As a social worker she worked with residents who planned
to discharge home after their skilled nursing and therapy. During the discharge
process she would order medical equipment for the residents. This is what
interested her in spending the next 7 years as an customer service
representative selling and billing medical equipment. Last but not least she is
here at our Assisted Living doing what she does best.

Julie welcomes you to come see her and join in the festivities. Make sure to bring
your sense of humor. “ Laughter is the best medicine.”

Hello, my name is Janet Martin and I am the Director of Admissions & Community Relations here at Woodland Care Center. I am the first point of contact for our facility when someone calls to inquire about an admission for themselves or a loved one. Working here has enlightened my life tremendously. I truly enjoy coming to work each day, and I go home each night feeling good knowing that I’m making a difference not only in the lives of our current residents, but in the lives of future residents and their families as well. I love this work!

I have one daughter who is the light of my life. I absolutely love spending time with her crafting, shopping, baking and most importantly, laughing.

I grew up in a small town out in the Columbia River Gorge and I’ve spent most of my career in the hospitality industry working as a Sales Manager/Event Planner. I did enjoy that work, but the work here is rewarding on a whole new level. I am so glad that I am employed here, it feels like home.

I was born in Orange County, California and my family moved to Battle Ground, WA shortly after the Northridge Earthquake in 1994.  Growing up, I was a curious kid who loved spending time after school in the kitchen with my Mom. Those afternoons fueled my curiosity and passion for the culinary arts.

I attended school at The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY. I moved back to the Northwest and completed externship at the Nines Hotel in Portland, OR. Though I’ve worked in a variety of restaurants and hotels I’ve felt the most fulfilled in senior living. I enjoy getting to know the residents and having a personal connection to each dish being prepared. One of the things I cherish about working in a community is talking with the residents about their favorite dishes. Cooking nostalgic and nourishing meals inspires me, I enjoy being in a field with so much depth and variety.

When I’m not at work I like to be outside in nature; I enjoy camping, kayaking and playing tennis. I cook at home often and enjoy reading about food science and immersing myself in new cuisines.

Hello! My name is Kelsey March and I am the Payroll/ Human Resources/ Accounts Payable Director and Benefits Coordinator here at Woodland Care Center. I originally moved here from Huntington Beach, California in 1992. I reside in the tiny but comfortable little town of Cougar, which is a 30-minute drive up the Lewis River from work. I have had multiple jobs and experiences in the past which have all led me to my career here at WCC. I began working for the company in March of 2013 as a part-time dishwasher, the company then had the urgent need for a cook. As I had cooked in the past doing short-order work and as a substitute in the kitchens of Woodland Public Schools I saw the opening as an opportunity to advance. I took the position as the full-time morning cook in our kitchen, and from there, a Central Supply and Medical Records job opened up. In my previous career, I was the Retail Distribution Manager at Mr. Formal Tuxedos. I had to supply all of the retail items in 62 stores which spanned over 6 states. That experience led to our Administrator’s hand-picking me out of the kitchen to take over Central Supply and become the NAC Staffing Coordinator. After doing that for a few years the company needed a Human Resources Director and I was brought over to the Business Office. I have learned that the more that you know here the more jobs they give you! My favorite part about working here is how small and close-knit everyone is, I enjoy coming in with my co-workers and residents, they are my second family! I have two little boys who are my entire world. I recently have taken up coaching my little guys in baseball which gives me much joy. In my spare time (haha) I enjoy Baseball, Football, Traveling, Being Outdoors, and spending every second I can loving my boyfriend and sons.
